Calling all parents - Did you know school ends in just 36 days? Are you ready? Your Oro Valley Parks & Recreation Department is. We have an interesting and exciting line-up of programs and events that is sure to meet the interests of every child.

The incredibly-popular Amphibious Athletes Camp is back this year and destined to be the best yet. This summer, your kids will get to participate in a high-energy program that encourages leadership, creativity and friendship. Activities include a variety of arts and crafts, sports, games, and experiential learning, all led by a highly-trained team that will ensure safety first.

Additionally, this camp includes swim lessons and fun, recreational swimming at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center.

This five-day camp starts at $95/week (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and is offered weekly from June 2 through Aug. 1, excluding the week of July 4.

New this year, Art @ the Ranch will introduce kids to a variety of art mediums, including culinary arts, paint, drama, storytelling, clay, creative play, and heritage-themed arts and crafts. This camp will take place at the historic Steam Pump Ranch. Kids will also learn about the origins of arts and culture using the Historic Garden’s hands-on archaeology exhibit. Art @ the Ranch is $50 for a week-long camp, from 7 to 10 a.m.

A full-day option, including transportation, to the Amphibious Athletes Camp, is available for an additional $55.

Other camps and programs available include Team Dance camp, Crazy for Horses camp, tennis lessons, swim lessons, archery lessons, kids and teen Boot Camps, and Teen Dive-In Movies at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center.

There is plenty to do for adults and families too. The Oro Valley Aquatic Center is offering a Family Summer Swim Discount ($155 residents and $180 non-residents), and Friday Family Nights where families can enjoy the Aquatic Center for only $5. Families will also enjoy the 2nd Saturdays at Steam Pump Ranch, with the Farmers Market, Historic Gardens and themed arts and crafts.

Upcoming special events include the 40th Anniversary Celebration at Steam Pump Ranch, April 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the annual 4th of July celebration at James D. Kriegh Park. Both events are family-friendly and include live music and activities for children.

Find out more about summer programs and special events in the Spring/Summer 2014 Parks and Recreation Program guide, now available online at www.orovalleyaz.gov.

Have a great summer Oro Valley.
