A heavily armed man killed three police officers and injured two others Wednesday in Canada’s eastern New Brunswick province, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.
The RCMP tweeted that a man it identified as Justin Bourque, 24, of Moncton, had opened fire and that three officers were mortally wounded and two others injured. It said Bourque was “armed and dangerous” and it warned residents to stay indoors away from windows and to lock their doors.
An image from the Times and Transcript newspaper showed a man dressed in camouflage clothing with a bandanna around his forehead carrying one assault-style rifle, with another slung over his shoulder.
