According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention between 2007 to 2011, the overall rate of teen births dropped 30 percent. The biggest decline was among Hispanic teens, whose birth rate dropped 34 percent. Among non-Hispanic black teens there was a decline of 24 percent. Among white, non-Hispanic teens, the rate decreased by 20 percent.

More education for teens are a big reason for the decrease, according to experts.

In Tucson, an educational program for teens is TOPS. TOPS, a non-profit organization, offers a variety of services for pregnant teens or moms. One of the services offered is support groups every Monday. The support group is held at 3024 E. Fort Lowell from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  The small group context allows for women, and occasionally a husband or boyfriend, to share with the group and receive input from other moms or employees at TOPS.
