Grand opening of the Cotton Blossom Thrift Store, 11851 / Suite 105 West Marana Road, is set for Wednesday, June 24, beginning at 10 a.m.
The store, affiliated with the Marana Health Center, is located between the National Bank of Arizona and Circle K service station.
A ribbon-cutting is planned with Marana Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Ed Stolmaker, other chamber representatives, Marana Health Center CEO Clarence Vatne and store manager Imelda Pines. Refreshments are being served.
"Everyone attending the ribbon cutting," said Pines, "will receive a special 40 percent off coupon for all clothing purchase for men, women or children from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day only." Usual Tuesday-Saturday hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Other "gently used" items for sale include tables, chairs, hanging wall pictures, kitchen appliances, bicycles, washers, dryers and television sets. More household donations — such as furniture, table lamps and glassware – are needed.
Persons wanting to donate any items or work as a volunteer should check in advance with Pines at 682-1094.
Profits from store sales will be used for health-related educational programs sponsored by MHC Healthcare, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. The corporation flagship Health Center has internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, women's health, dentistry and pharmacy services.
