I-10, Cortaro to Avra Valley

As part of the Twin Peaks project, the Arizona Department of Transportation is reducing eastbound I-10 to one travel lane from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday between Cortaro Road and Avra Valley Road.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, eastbound I-10 will be reduced to one travel lane between Cortaro Road and Avra Valley Road. The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Avra Valley Road will be closed. Motorists can use the eastbound frontage road to the on-ramp at Cortaro Road as an alternate.

These closures will allow crews to complete final paving work in preparation of opening the completed roadway to motorists.

I-10 and I-8

As the Arizona Department of Transportation works to improve the ramps at the Interstate 10 and Interstate 8 traffic interchange, drivers need to be aware of a detour next week and will need to plan ahead.

The eastbound ramp on I-8 to westbound I-10 will be closed from 5 a.m. Thursday through 11 a.m. Friday. Traffic will be detoured to the Sunland Gin Road traffic interchange where drivers will be directed to turn around to head westbound on I-10. Signs will be in place directing drivers to the detour.

Ramp improvements include new pavement, signage that shows how fast drivers are going, and the installation of raised strips across the pavement that vibrate, alerting drivers to be attentive. The project will enhance safety at the traffic interchange. The $102,000 project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
