Human Resources Director Sandra Abbey issued a letter of resignation to interim-Town Manager Jerene Watson on Nov. 4.

"I have enjoyed my work here very much and have had opportunities to become involved in some important initiatives and projects that have made a lasting impression on me," Abbey wrote.

She notified Watson that she had accepted a position with the Tucson Airport Authority as senior director of administrative services. She'll be the TAA's human resources director, work in records management risk management and procurement.

In her letter she described the position as "a tremendous growth opportunity."

"Sandra has been a wonderful asset to the town in her 4-1/2 years of service," Watson said in an e-mail statement. "She is professional and energetic and has provided a great focus in our HR efforts at the town. She will be truly missed, but this is a wonderful career broadening opportunity for her and we wish her continued success."

Abbey's final day with Oro Valley is scheduled to be Dec. 11.
