Amanda McPherson, a 10-year Marana preschool supervisor who is studying for her master’s degree in early childhood education at Northern Arizona University, has been inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society at NAU.
“It is only fitting that a top academic achiever like Amanda be recognized by Golden Key,” said John W. Mitchell, Golden Key’s chief executive officer.
McPherson has been a supervisor at Desert Winds Preschool in the Marana Unified School District for a decade. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and is on the National Dean’s List. She was an MUSD support staff of the year award recipient in 2005, and a 2002 Hero Award winner from the Marana Foundation for Educational Excellence.
McPherson volunteers as a Girl Scout leader for two troops, is a soccer mom, is a member of the parent-teacher organization at Desert Winds Elementary School, and is head of the Walmart plastic bag recycling program at Desert Winds.
Golden Key has more than 1.7 million members and more than 360 chapters across the world.
