Oro Valley police arrested two suspected armed robbers Wednesday evening after a failed attempt to burglarize an electronics store.

Police arrested George Gonzales, 30, and Julie Yvonne Lopez, 34, shortly past 6 p.m. Sept. 8 in a high-risk traffic stop near the intersection of Oracle and Hardy roads.

Employees of the Best Buy store at 11855 N. Oracle Road told police that Gonzales took two laptop computers without paying from the store Wednesday evening.

When confronted, employees said Gonzales appeared to display a holstered handgun.

Gonzales ran to an awaiting car driven by Lopez, according to a news release.

Police confiscated a handgun from the front seat of the car. Police have not released details of what kind of weapon was taken.

Gonzales was taken to Pima County Adult Detention Center and booked on two charges of armed robbery. Lopez also was processed into jail on two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
