The Northwest Fire District Governing Board has a vacancy and invites qualified residents who are interested in filling the position to apply, according to a release.

The board generally meets once a month, at 6 p.m. on a Tuesday at the district’s training facility, 8165 N. Wade Road. Board members must live in the fire district and be qualified to vote. Board positions are unpaid, and the term of the vacant position runs through Nov. 30, 2010.

Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest and resume to the Northwest Fire District Board at 5225 W. Massingale Road, Tucson, 85743, or by e-mail to ghackenbracht@northwestfire.org. Letters must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Applicants will be asked to provide a brief presentation at either a special board meeting on Oct. 7 or at the regular board meeting Oct. 21.

The board opening exists due to the resignation of board member Terry Winger.
