JW Marriott Starr Pass has announced Russ Bond as its new General Manager. Along with Bond, Dan Carraher has been hired as the new Director of Sales and Marketing, and John Strong has been appointed as Director of Events.

Russ Bond comes to Tucson from Florida where he managed one of the great resort hotels in the country, the Renaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg, for 14 years. Under Bond’s guidance, the Vinoy was named the Renaissance brand Hotel of the Year in 2005 and 2012 and voted best Florida resort in Conde Nast’s Travel and Leisure’s reader polls. Bond has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years, including management or general manager stints at some of the finest hotels and resorts in the country, including Scottsdale, Ariz.; San Francisco; Baltimore; Washington DC; and White Plains, N.Y.

Daniel Carraher is a 30-year veteran of Marriott properties nationwide, having worked at nearly a dozen Marriott properties, including sales director positions in Phoenix; Baltimore; Portland, Ore.; and Washington DC. Carraher comes to Tucson from Oakland, Calif., where he was the area director for sales and marketing for the Oakland Marriott City Center, the Oakland Convention Center and Courtyard Oakland Downtown. He has worked for Marriott since 1982, and Marriott named him Sales Leader of the Year in 2006.

John Strong has been involved in event planning with Marriot International Hotels since 1998. As the event manager at the downtown Cleveland property, Strong has been responsible for restaurant, bar, event operations and gift shop services. Showing experience as an integral part of the Hotel Leadership Committee, Strong has implemented company policies and hotel strategies. His professional development includes exceptional knowledge of menu composition, and sales and service foundations.

With the hiring of the powerful new team of three, JW Marriot Starr Pass will continue to provide an extraordinary resort experience while striving to create unrivaled vacation memories for each guest.

Tucked into the Tucson Mountains, Starr Pass boasts a 27-hole Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, the Hashani Spa, three pools and four award-winning restaurants featuring Mediterranean, continental and American cuisine. The resort also is next door to Tucson Mountain Park, one of the nation’s largest metropolitan natural parks, featuring hiking and nature trails through the beautiful Sonoran desert.
