Northwest marks the Fourth of July in grand fashion
Dave Perry/The Explorer Sharon Gottschalk of Oro Valley gladly wrote a message to U.S. troops on a large sheet of paper at Riverfront Park. "I'm all for them," said Gottschalk. "Usually, I wear a red shirt on Fridays" to honor Americans in the military. The town of Oro Valley gathered messages of support and appreciation on the Fourth of July, and plans to send them overseas.
Brandon Hays/The Explorer Monsoon lightning provided the backdrop for the annual fireworks display at Ora Mae Harn Park in Marana.
Dave Perry/The Explorer Madison Gillis puffed her cheeks and blew hard on a trumpet at Riverfront Park. Kids got to try horns at a booth that was part of Oro Valley's Fourth of July celebration, as put on by the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council.
