A group of volunteers, labeling themselves the Oro Valley Buffel Busters, has formed to help in the fight to eradicate buffel and fountain grasses.

It plans a pull on the second Saturday of every month, and it needs volunteers to battle the invasive grasses.

The next scheduled pull is Saturday, June 13 at 7 a.m., at the east end of River Walk Drive off of Avenida Vallejo, on the south side of Lambert Lane, just west of First Avenue. Pullers may park at the end of the cul-de-sac on River Walk Drive.

Tools and bags are provided. Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy boots, a hat, work gloves, long-sleeve shirts, long pants and sunscreen, and to bring plenty of water. Shovels and bars are welcome, too.

For more information or to sign up for the pull, contact Carmen Ryan at 229-5070, or at cryan@orovalleyaz.gov.
