Bennett agreed to the shave if Sonoran Science Academy generated $30,000 in Arizona School Tax Credits, a source of funding for school extra-curricular activities. Bennett is the school's robotics instructor and physics teacher. A Sonoran CRUSH Robotics team robot is being entered in a Phoenix competition next month.
