After a brief chase last Wednesday, Border Patrol agents rounded up 11 suspected illegal immigrants at Marana High School.

A Border Patrol helicopter spotted an SUV full of suspected illegal immigrants near the school at Emigh and Sandario roads.

Agents already were in the area and it did not take long to catch all 11 suspects, according to Jesus Rodriguez, supervisory border patrol agent in the Tucson Border Patrol Sector.

The incident took place about 7:15 a.m. and did not disrupt school activities or delay the start of classes, said Marana Unified School District spokesperson Tamara Crawley. Classes at the high school start at 7:30, and many students and staff had yet to arrive.

In fact, school officials hardly had time to figure out what had happened before agents rounded up the immigrants, Crawley added.
