Oro Valley Town Manager David Andrews has requested that the town council give him a more than $37,000 raise.

The salary hike would put Andrews at an $181,231 annual salary.

Andrews has worked for the town since 1991, when he was hired as finance director.

In 2004, Andrews was promoted to assistant town manager. In September 2006, he was hired to replace former Town Manager Chuck Sweet.

Andrews is a native of Tyler, Texas, and holds a business management degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

In 1988, he earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Arizona.

The town council recently conducted an evaluation of Andrews in executive session.

According to state law, the council can convene an executive session without public scrutiny.

The council could vote on Andrews’ requested raise and new employment contract at its next meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 1.
