A woman is dead, and her son wounded after an early-morning shooting in the Northwest last week.
Dagmar Stellmach, 48, was found dead on Wednesday after suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Dawn Hanke. Deputies found her body in a third-floor apartment at Desert Shadows, 7425 N. Mona Lisa Road.
Investigators on Thursday, June 19, had determined that that Stellmach’s 22-year-old son, Trenten Michael Stellmach, shot his mother “either intentionally or by mishandling the gun,” according to Hanke.
“He then turned the weapon on himself,” the spokeswoman said.
Trenten Stellmach’s father and girlfriend were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.
As of Monday morning, the victim’s son remains hospitalized, according to Hanke.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate the matter. An autopsy on the mother revealed she was shot once in the head, Hanke said.
