A code revision approved by the Oro Valley Town Council allows an extension of construction hours during peak seasons of extreme heat.

The noise ordinance revision, adopted by the council on May 7, takes effect immediately, a release said.

Prior to the revision, the town’s noise ordinance allowed the pouring of concrete between the hours of 6 a.m. (or sunrise, if later) and sunset.

Under the amendment, these hours remain effective from October 15 through April 14. Concrete may be poured from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 15 through October 14. For any concrete work outside these hours, a contractor must apply for and be granted an Extended Construction Hours Work Permit, which the town may grant under certain limited conditions outlined in the ordinance.

The ordinance applies only to projects within the town’s jurisdiction, the release emphasized.

It excludes any work being done on state roads such as Oracle Road and parts of Tangerine Road.
