A series of cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes is being offered through the Northwest Fire District around the Valentines Day holiday.

“Some people hesitate to learn CPR because they’re uncomfortable at the thought of using CPR on a stranger,” a district release said. “The truth is, however, you’re most likely to use CPR on a member of your immediate family.”

February’s schedule is:

First Aid — Thursday, Feb. 5, 6-10 p.m.

CPR — Thursday, Feb. 12, 6-10 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 19, 6-10 p.m.

Health care provider CPR — Saturday, Feb. 14, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Classes are held at Northwest Fire Station 30, 1520 W. Orange Grove Road.

Space is limited, and people must register in advance.

There is a nonrefundable fee for CPR and First Aid classes of $20 for district residents and $25 for those living outside the district, and $25 and $30 for the health care provider class.

Call 887-1010 to register or for additional information.
