All Amphitheater Unified School District elementary schools are set to begin accepting kindergarten enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.

Enrollment is available to any child who will turn five years old prior to Sept. 1, 2010.

When registering a child for enrollment, parents must have the child's birth certificate, the child's immunization records, and proof of residency such as a current electric bill, phone bill, mortgage papers, or rental agreement.

A driver's license will not be accepted as proof of residency. Parents are encouraged to bring their child to registration.

Applicants who reside in any district are encouraged to apply, as all Amphi schools are accepting open enrollment students.

The state may cut funding for all-day kindergarten programs as a budget reduction.  However, the district is working to develop all-day kindergarten programs at the Title I schools where federal funding can replace lost state funding.  At non-Title I schools, the district is working to provide a kindergarten program supported by tuition, a release said.

The first day of school for all Amphi students is Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010.

Parents with questions concerning a child's school attendance area should contact Amphitheater School Operations at 696-5168, or parents may visit and click on "Parent/Student Info" for attendance area maps.
