Tim Bee, the Republican challenger in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, is meeting with key staff at Casa de la Luz Hospice in the Northwest on Friday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m.

The briefing is “part of Casa de la Luz’s ongoing advocacy efforts to communicate with state and local officials and their staffs to educate them about hospice … and to advocate licensure for residential hospice homes in Tucson,” a release said.

Casa de la Luz currently owns and operates Kanmar Place, the lone residential hospice home in Tucson.

“As Medicare faces mounting budgetary pressures and questions about its future solvency, it is important to help political leaders understand the benefits of hospice,” the release continued.

Previous briefings have been held for U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva of the 7th Congressional District, Pima Country Supervisor Ann Day, staff members of the offices of U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl, and U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Democratic incumbent in the 8th District.

They toured either Casa’s inpatient unit or Kanmar Place.
