On Sunday, June 9, Pima County Deputies from the San Xavier District responded to three suspicious fires, which started within a thirty-minute time frame.

•          2:56 p.m. deputies responded to a mobile home fire in the 3100 block of East Milton Road.

•          3:10 p.m. deputies responded to a brush fire in the 3100 block of East Benson Highway.

•          3:22 p.m. deputies responded to a third fire in a mobile home park in the 4200 block of East Benson Highway.

When deputies arrived, five mobile homes were burning and the fire had spread to the desert area southeast of the mobile home park.  Due to the danger of the fire spreading to more homes, the deputies evacuated the mobile home park with the assistance of U.S. Border Patrol Agents who stopped to help.

The fires destroyed a total of six mobile homes and one person was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.  The Red Cross responded to assist the people who were displaced from their homes.

The Sheriff’s Department Night Detective Unit responded to investigate the incident due to the suspicious nature of the fires.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call 911 or 88-Crime.
