Three Northwest graduates have earned scholarships from the Oro Valley Rotary Club.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy senior Cory Kirk, Ironwood Ridge senior Garrett Jonilonis, and Canyon del Oro senior Jennifer Wendel each received $1,000 awards a release said.

They are named in honor of club member Michael Gemma, principal of Canyon del Oro High School, who has been named head master of Bradenton Preparatory Academy Dubai.

The Oro Valley Rotary Club Michael Gemma Scholarships are awarded to local high school seniors for outstanding academic achievement, student leadership, and community service, a release said.

The club also awarded $500 to the Canyon del Oro Academic Decathlon to thank Dr. Gemma for his years of service in the club and in the community.

The Oro Valley Rotary Club is a service organization that supports local community and educational programs as well as international humanitarian projects. The club meets at 7 a.m. Thursdays at the Oro Valley Country Club.
