The Oro Valley Historical Society took its annual meeting to the community's premier modern-day historic site, Steam Pump Ranch.

"It was so much nicer to be at the ranch than in a meeting room," said Pat Spoerl, president of the organization.

About 40 people toured the historic site off Oracle Road, and elected new officers. Spoerl was re-elected president, joined by returning officers Jim Skalicky, vice president; Roxy Johnson, corresponding secretary; Twink Monrad, recording secretary; and Lyra Done, treasurer.

New board members are Bob Baughman, former chair of the Oro Valley Historic Preservation Commission; Barb Campbell and Marilyn Pincus.

Outgoing board members are Joyce Rychener, who remains education coordinator and "gardener extraordinaire," and Fred Roof, Spoerl said. Joe Frannea continues as newsletter editor and Web master.
