The Town of Oro Valley is pleased to announce that it has received the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award is for the Town's first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for FY 2011-12.
Each year, the Town of Oro Valley produces a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which outlines the Town's financial position and operating activities and includes audited financial statements; however, due to its length and scope, the CAFR is not very user-friendly.
"We felt it was important to make the Town's financial information more accessible," commented Town Manager Greg Caton. "So our Finance Department and Communications Division collaborated to develop this award-winning document."
The PAFR includes a summary of accomplishments, net assets, activities, revenues, expenditures, debt and financial ratings and employee salaries and benefits.
GFOA document reviewers commented that Oro Valley's PAFR was visually appealing to the reader and that staff had done a good job presenting the financial data in an easy-to-understand format.
