The Town of Marana Finance Department has been named recipient of a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the seventh consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The award is for the Town’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget and comprehensive financial plan. In order to receive the honor, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. To receive the award, budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
The Town also received special recognition for the performance measures section of its budget document.
“These types of awards would not be possible without the organization’s commitment to excellence in budget reporting and the effort put forth by all levels of this organization,” said Marana Finance Director Erik Montague.
The GFOA is a nonprofit association that serves 17,800 government finance professionals in North America.
