The Town of Marana has hired new economic development/strategic initiatives manager, Curt Woody. Woody started work on March 19, and with an annual salary of $75,000.

Woody will be responsible for business development and retention and implementation of the Town’s Strategic Plan update.

“This is an absolutely critical position for the Town in terms of being able to lead the effort in working with our business community, and trying to create new opportunities for companies to locate in Marana,” said Town Manager Gilbert Davidson.

Davidson said Woody will work not only in the Town of Marana, but also throughout the region and state with various organizations, such as the Arizona Commerce Authority, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Pinal County, and Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities.

Woody brings experience in strategic planning, relationship development, market analysis, proposal and interview consultation, branding, marketing, and media relations.

Woody has served as the president of InCite Consulting since 2009, and served as business development and marketing director for Sundt Construction for the last six years.

Woody was named the 2010-2011 Member of the Year by the Arizona Association for Economic Development, and has served on boards for the American Institute of Architects, Cornerstone Building Foundation, and Southern Arizona Architects & Engineers Marketing Association.

According to Davidson, Woody “is excited to be part of a team that has the vision to lead Marana in building a diverse, thriving economy that impacts all of Southern Arizona.”

Woody is replacing Josh Wright, who resigned from the Town of Marana late last year in order to become the Town Manager of Wickenberg.
