Reuben Nunez will become the new captain of the Marana Police Department starting Sept. 5

Reuben Nunez is the new police captain for the Town of Marana. Nunez, who will start on Sept. 5, will receive an annual salary of $100,000.

Nunez is coming to Marana after serving the Tucson Police Department for more than 27 years. He was a commander for 11 of those years.

“From a personal standpoint, I am thrilled to have Captain Nunez assume his new position,” said Marana Police Chief Terry Rozema. “He has a reputation for being a knowledgeable, competent, hard-charging, workhorse who simply goes out and gets the job done. Having worked with Reuben for more than two decades, I know his experience, enthusiasm and leadership will enable us to continue respected and highly regarded agencies in the State of Arizona.”

Nunez will serve as the department’s second in command, His duties include day-to-day management, oversight and leadership of administrative/support services bureau, including criminal investigations, communications, records, crime scene investigations, internal affairs, homeland security, volunteers, recruiting, training and policies and procedures.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to be a member of the Marana Police Department,” said Nunez. “Serving the citizens of Marana will be my duty and honor and working with Chief Rozema and the men and women of MPD will soon be one of the most professional, well-respected and highly regarded agencies in the State of Arizona.”

Nunez holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.
