Arizona State Sen. Al Melvin endorsed Wil Cardon's bid for the U.S. Senate on Thursday.

Melvin represents District 26 and lives in North Tucson, and is currently seeking reelection in the newly-created District 11.

In endorsing Cardon, Melvin said, "Wil Cardon is the consistent conservative we need in the US Senate right now. He understands that we must secure our border immediately and is dedicated to making sure that happens. He's also a proponent for education and Arizona families. What's more, his business background will help get our economy back on track. He is the outsider we need in Washington right now."

Cardon said he is honored to receive the endorsement.

"Senator Melvin is committed to our state and our country. I'm grateful, not only for his endorsement but want to thank him, too, for his military service to our country. I look forward to working with him on issues important to Arizona such as securing our border and getting Arizonans back to work," he said.
