Accompanied by a group of friends, volunteers and supporters, GOP Congressional District 8 candidate Dave Sitton filed his nominating petitions today with the Secretary of State’s downtown Tucson office.

Sitton filed more than 1,000 signatures and stated that the campaign would make an additional supplemental filing on Feb. 27, the last day to file signatures.

“We’re thrilled to be able to file our nominating petitions with the Secretary of State for this special election,” Sitton said. “In collecting these signatures, we’ve begun the discussion with citizens across this district about their concerns and hopes, and we look forward to continuing that conversation as we campaign throughout southern Arizona. I’ve been an active part of the southern Arizona community for 38 years as a businessman, broadcaster, military advocate, community leader, mentor and coach. Now I want to apply my experience representing my fellow citizens as we work together to create real and meaningful jobs, return our country to fiscal sanity, replace Obamacare with something that actually works for the people, secure our southern border first and then engage in an adult conversation about immigration."

Republican candidate Frank Antenori is expected to file later today, while Jesse Kelly has already filed to run on the April 17 Republican ticket.
