This year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Tucson will be held on Oct. 27 at the Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way.

The walk is a 1.4 or 3-mile non-competitive walk that helps raise money and awareness in the community. In last year’s walk, community members, business leaders, and organizations managed to raise $300,000.

On the day of the walk, 8,000 people are expected to fill the stadium. In Arizona, 4,660 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

Dollars raised through Making Strides enable the American Cancer Society to provide free resources to one in two women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Registration for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer opens at 7 a.m., with the event program beginning at 7:30 a.m. Entertainment, refreshments and activities will be available before and after the walk.

The event is supported by sponsors Radiology Ltd., Walmart, KGUN-9, and 94.9 MIXfm. For more information on Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, or to register online to start fundraising, visit makingstrideswalk.org/tucsonaz or call 323-4200.
