Sen. Frank Antenori today filed his nominating petitions for the Special Primary Election in Congressional District 8 to be held on April 17th.

“The amount of support and encouragement we’ve received has been staggering,” said Antenori. “It’s evident that the people of (CD8) are looking for a leader that has gotten results. I’m the only candidate in the race that can claim that mantle. I’ve fought for a balanced budget, cutting government waste, creating new and better jobs, and curbing illegal immigration. I wasn’t sent to the state legislature to be popular, I was sent there to get the job done for southern Arizona. Now I’m asking for the honor and opportunity to shake up Washington. This election is so critical to the future of southern Arizona. I know that at the end of the day, the voters will take my record of results over the hype of my opponents.”

Antenori filed 1,676 signatures Friday, giving him the most of any candidate to date. He surpassed Jesse Kelly (848) and Dave Sitton (1,158). Senator Antenori will make a supplemental petition filing on Monday, Feb. 27, which is the final deadline for signatures.

First elected in 2008,  Antenori is a decorated combat veteran, serving twenty-years in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. He served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa and was awarded the Bronze Star twice for valor. He presently serves as an aerospace and defense executive at a major Tucson area defense firm. He is also a published author and presently serves as Majority Whip in the Arizona State Senate.
