A motorcyclist is in serious condition after an accident Tuesday night on the 5200 block of W. Trails End.

Adam Goldberg, of the Northwest Fire District, said the accident occurred around 5 p.m. when authorities were called to the scene of a motorcycle colliding with a car.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found a male patient in his 40s suffering serious injuries, but because he was wearing a helmet his injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The patient was transported to the University Medical Center trauma unit.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the cause of the collision.

Goldberg said, "This incident is a good reminder to all that ride motorcycles or bicycles that helmets do save lives and reduce injury severity."
