Hughes Federal Credit Union is now accepting scholarship applications for their annual scholarship program. This year, Hughes will award $6,000 to be split among four Southern Arizona high school students.

Applicants must be high school seniors entering college or trade school in the fall, and must be members of Hughes Federal Credit Union.

Scholarship winners will be selected based on scholastic excellence, community service and interest in advancing personal education, which will be demonstrated through student applications and essays.

Students must also write a credit-union-themed essay.

“We encourage applicants to be creative when preparing their credit-union-themed essays,” John Sansbury, chairman of the board, said. “Their essay might include mock presentations with visuals or a video in the form of an advertising or promotional campaign. It’s a great opportunity for students to gain insight into the financial industry and the unique benefits that credit unions offer.”

The deadline to submit applications with the required essay is Saturday, March 12. Application forms and complete application information are available at HughesFCU.org/Scholarship, or at any branch location. For more information, applicants may also contact the scholarship committee at 520-794-8341.

Scholarship winners will be announced at the Credit Union’s 64th annual meeting on April 16.
