Twin Peaks Elementary teacher, Kendra Lewis, received a surprise visit in her classroom from Marana OfficeMax employees on October 1, 2013 as part of the seventh annual “A Day Made Better” event.
Marana OfficeMax #0741 at Ina and Thornydale awarded Ms. Lewis with a new chair, a digital camera, a Kindle Fire, loads of classrooms supplies and the recognition she so richly deserves.
This one-day event awards more than 1,000 teachers nationwide with $1,000 in much-needed classroom supplies. Since its inception in 2007, OfficeMax’s “A Day Made Better” and its nonprofit partner AdoptAClassroom.org have surprised more than 6,700 teachers and donated $8.85 million in school supplies to classrooms across the country.
Dondi Luce, Twin Peaks Elementary principal, states “Kendra Lewis is an outstanding teacher and truly deserves this award. She has taught both kindergarten and first grades at Twin Peaks Elementary School. Children and parents adore Ms. Lewis. She brings joy to the classroom every day. In addition to being a fabulous teacher, she adds value to our entire campus. She has served as the Student Council Sponsor and the Teacher Representative to Parents Teachers and Friends (PTF). She has served on our school’s Child Assistance Team and Building Leadership Team. She has also served on district-level curricular and teacher performance committees. Ms. Lewis approaches everything she does with a positive, can-do attitude. She makes everyone around her have a better day, and now it is her turn!”
