Super Bowl

Loop 101 drivers in Glendale have a front-row seat to view of the progress being made on new freeway ramps that will connect with the Maryland Avenue Bridge near University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Arizona Department of Transportation reports that crews recently attached two of the ramps to the north side of the bridge. All four ramps remain on schedule for completion by late spring.

The project to improve freeway access near Jobing.com Arena, the Westgate City Center and University of Phoenix Stadium will be finished well ahead of the Arizona Cardinals' 2014 season and Super Bowl XLIX. The work started last October.

The ramps will connect to and from the center of the bridge at Maryland Avenue via the Loop 101 HOV lanes.

Construction of the $11.7 million project, supported by the City of Glendale and the Maricopa Association of Governments, is managed by ADOT.
