Tortolita Middle School’s TV Broadcasting & Video Production students entered the 2013 “Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying PSA Contest” this spring.  On April 27, students attended the showcase and awards event at the Loft Cinema where 17 Tortolita students’ video PSAs were played on the big screen in competition with schools across the globe.

There were three possible prizes, including grand prize, runner up, and radio ready.  Tortolita Middle School students won all three categories.

Mikayla Curcio won the grand prize with her video “What if that were You?”  She was awarded an iPad Mini and her PSA will air on Cox Cable TV this fall.

Runner up went to Alison Plocki for “What will they Think?”.

The Radio Ready award went to Cyan Cornett for “Don’t Be Afraid”.  She will work with Bobby Rich at MixFM to convert her video PSA to a radio spot, which will be played on MixFM this fall.
