“These scholars are among Pima’s best and brightest,” said PCC Chancellor Lee D. Lambert. “Their academic achievements highlight the quality instruction provided by our faculty, and show that Pima offers a valuable first step to earning a bachelor’s degree or higher.”

As Silver Scholars, Contreras and Humphrey each receive a $1,250 scholarship and a silver medallion. Meanwhile, as a Bronze Scholar, Ramey receives a $1,000 scholarship and a bronze medallion. The three were among 12 PCC students earning 2014 PTK All-Arizona Academic team honors, which are based upon academic achievement, leadership and service to the community.

The Alpha Beta Chi chapter at Pima Community College is the largest PTK chapter in the Arizona region. Miranda Schubert, a Student Services Advanced Specialist for the Pathways to Healthcare Program, is its lead advisor. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in higher education with 1,250 chapters on college campuses in all 50 state and other countries. More than two million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 100,000 students inducted annually.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Program awards 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze scholars each year. All 150 Coca-Cola Scholars will be recognized April 25 as part of PTK’s Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida.
