During the High Visibility Enforcement (HiVE) deployment on Dec. 10, 2013, an Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) motor officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a civil traffic infraction.

The driver was Randi M. Hartjen, a 31-year-old female. During the stop, evidence of illegal contraband was found in the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, the officer located numerous drivers’ licenses and checks. OVPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit was contacted and search warrants were obtained and executed on Hartjen’s vehicle and residence.

The investigation revealed that Hartjen had different checks with fraudulent names. She would go to businesses throughout the community and purchase items with the fraudulent checks.

Hartjen was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center for one count of Fraudulent Schemes (Felony 2), and one count of Forgery (Felony 4).

The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges could be pending. If anyone has any additional information on this case, please contact OVPD at (520) 229-4900, 88-crime or 911.
