Up to $1,250 in reward money is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the possible illegal killing of a deer last year on the opening day of the 2012 archery season for the species.

The incident occurred on between 6 and 11 a.m. Aug. 24, 2012, near the old airstrip north of Biosphere 2. Two individuals are suspected of involvement.

“We know archery deer hunters frequent the area, and there is a good chance they may have witnessed this crime. Any information, no matter how small, may be useful,” said Regional Supervisor Raul Vega.  “We need the public’s help. Poachers are not hunters, and those who commit these acts are stealing resources from the citizens of Arizona.”

Those with information about the case are urged to call the Game and Fish Operation Game Thief hotline toll-free at (800) 352-0700 and reference OGT #12-002327.  Calls are taken 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. Information may also be provided online at www.azgfd.gov/thief.
