In its third annual dog adoption event, Royal Buick is hosting “Dog Days of Summer,” on Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will be held at the Royal Buick GMC Cadillac, 815 W. Auto Mall Dr., and the dealership will sponsor free pet adoptions. The Humane Society of Southern Arizona and Pima Animal Care Center will bring in dogs available for adoption.

Last year, the event helped 37 dogs find new homes, a number the Royal Buick team is hoping top this year. In addition to the free adoptions, guests will be allowed free pet portraits and can partake in a hotdog barbecue and free gift raffles. Several pet boutiques and vendors will also be on site.

Staff of Royal Buick recommends guests arrive early, as dogs have been adopted out quickly in past events.

The Royal Buick team is accepting donations at its location, and is highest need of unopened pet food, bowls, beds, leashes and collars, blankets, and grooming supplies.

It is estimated that 8 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters each year, with only about half that number being adopted.

To reward dog owners, Royal Buick is offering a 10 percent discount to customers who bring their dog to Royal’s pet-friendly service department through tomorrow, Aug. 18. The offer is only valid at the Buick GMC Cadillac location.
