NW motorcycle accident

On June 6, at 5:05 p.m., deputies from the Foothills District responded to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in the 5500 block of West Overton Rd.  When deputies arrived they located the motorcycle inside a fenced area on the property of Degrazia Elementary School.  The motorcyclist was conscious and being treated by Mountain Vista Fire Department personnel.

The motorcyclist, who is in extremely critical condition, was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, which consisted of numerous broken bones.

Witnesses on scene advised the motorcycle was eastbound on Overton Rd. from Hartman Road and travelling at a high rate of speed.  The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was unable to negotiate the turn because of his speed and hit a curb causing him to lose control of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle left the roadway and flipped end over end for approximately 200 feet before crashing through a chain linked fence, coming to rest in front of Degrazia Elementary School.

The Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit was called to continue the investigation due to the serious condition of the motorcyclist.  At the present time alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
