On Monday evening around 6:23 p.m., deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department San Xavier District responded to the 9000 block of West Delfina Drive to a report of a missing child.

They learned that 11-year-old Larry Avila, had not returned home from school. He is a student of Valencia Middle School where he was last seen this afternoon. Deputies have worked closely with officials of the Tucson Unified School District, but so far have been unsuccessful in locating Larry Avila.

He is described as a Hispanic male, skinny, approximately 4’3” tall, brown hair, brown eyes. He was last seen wearing his school uniform, a blue shirt and brown shorts.

Anybody with information on the whereabouts of Larry Avila is asked to call 911.

About 50 police officers spent Monday night searching the southwest side of town.

Avila is not the first child to go missing this year. Six-year-old Isabel Celis went missing earlier this year, and has yet to be found.
