The Governor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking has submitted to Governor Brewer its final report, including findings and final recommendations for combatting trafficking.

Governor Brewer established the Task Force in April 2013 via Executive Order. Members were tasked with reviewing and strengthening current Arizona laws, with the ultimate goal of reducing the incidence of human trafficking and identifying and assisting its victims.

Throughout the process, the Task Force took testimony from subject matter experts with experience managing the impact of human trafficking and identified opportunities to strengthen Arizona human trafficking statutes. The recommendations were submitted to the Governor and include considerations for changes in law, administrative practice and law enforcement training.

“I sincerely thank each and every member of the Task Force for their time, energy and dedication to this critical mission,” said Governor Brewer. “I especially appreciate the valuable leadership of the two co- chairs, Cindy McCain and Gil Orrantia.

“Human trafficking is one of the most horrendous crimes against humanity, and is especially threatening in a state so affected by an unsecured border. I am thankful for the Task Force’s diligent commitment to this complex and difficult matter and confident that their efforts will benefit victims in the future. I look forward to reviewing the report and continuing to work together to combat this insidious crime.”
