Join us at the Zoo this Sunday, June 29, from 8-10 a.m. for an elephant-sized baby shower for Semba, our pregnant African elephant. Although Semba’s calf is not expected for a few more weeks, any pregnancy lasting 22 months deserves a party.

Education staff and volunteers will be on hand with crafts, activities, shower games, and a giant card for guests to sign to welcome the baby when he (or she!) arrives. Staff will offer free tours of the Elephant Care Center at 9:30am, and Semba and the rest of the elephant herd will receive a special healthy “cake” to enjoy.

For more details about this event, and Semba’s progressing pregnancy, visit the Zoo’s Pachyderm Pregnancy Page at
