The Pima Community College Governing Board will hold a Special Meeting at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3, to receive information from the College’s Higher Learning Commission liaison and from an education consultant.
The meeting will be in the Community Board Room (C-105) of PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway.
The Board will hear a presentation by Dr. Karen Solomon, a vice president with the Higher Learning Commission and Pima’s HLC liaison. The HLC is one of several regional and national groups that accredit institutions of higher education such as PCC.
Dr. Solomon will present information regarding probation and PCC response obligations, new accreditation criteria, and the role of the HLC.
Also, Dr. Cecilia López, who served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Accreditation and Assessment for the City Colleges of Chicago, will share perspectives and experiences from her career related to managing change in post-secondary educational institutions and addressing accreditation-related issues.
The meeting can be viewed live through video streaming accessible from the Meeting Notices page of the PCC website.
The meeting with the Board is one of several information sessions that the two education experts held on May 2-3 with PCC students, faculty and staff. Videos of the sessions will be posted on the PCC website.
