The Estes Elementary Parent Teacher Organization hosted its annual Grand Persons Day appreciation event from 10:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

This fun-filled event honored approximately 500 grandparents/special persons. Grandparents/special persons had the opportunity to visit classrooms and enjoy a special outdoor BBQ luncheon prepared by MUSD Food Services.

“We value the important role that grandparents and family members have in the lives of our students and we greatly appreciate the continued support they provide our school,” states Nancy Paddock, Estes principal. “This is a special time to say thank you and a special time for grand persons and students to spend time together on campus.”

Estes also welcomed four generations of the Anway family. Great-grandmother, grandfather, and mother participated in this special day with their kindergarten student. The Anway family moved to the Marana community in 1919 and became one of the first farmers/ranchers in the area. All Anway family members have attended Marana schools. Since 1919 an Anway family member has either been a student or a staff member in the Marana school district.
