Fire destroys semi-truck

Northwest Firefighters responded to a semi-truck fire just after 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon when drivers along North La Cholla Blvd. noticed smoke from a truck parking area.

Crews arrived within 5 minutes to Desert Trucking located at 4235 N. La Cholla Blvd to find one semi-truck fully involved in a fire and another truck parked next to the first truck involved beginning to catch fire.

Firefighters using water from the tank of the engine along with water brought to the scene from water tender had the blaze under control within 14 minutes.

The first truck is considered a total loss and damages to the second truck combined to value nearly $80,000.

No injuries were reported.

Northwest Fire Cause Investigators were on the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
