The Northwest Fire/Rescue District has been recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services as a Premier Emergency Medical System Agency. The designation is a result of the District’s outstanding performance in four key areas, including documenting agency leadership commitment, developing a quality assurance (QI) program, ensuring that data are fed back into the QI program to inform the analysis and improvement of patient care and collecting and submitting electronic patient care records (ePCR) as a participant in the AZ-PIERS program. In addition, the District has made major strides in instituting a more efficient medication replacement program, Evidence-Based Medical Operations, Minimally Interrupted Cardio Resucitation (MICR) and EMS Equipment Standardization.
According to Northwest EMS Batallion Chief Brad Bradley, the District is one of only four emergency medical service providers in Arizona to achieve the prestigious Premier Agency distinction and the first agency in Arizona to become fully certified in the EPIC Traumatic Brain Injury program. In 2011, Northwest Fire/Rescue District received the Congressional Fire Services Institute Award (CFSI) for Fire-Based EMS Excellence.
