Easter chicks need a home

A Humane Society of Southern Arizona volunteer found two three-week old Easter chicks in the wash behind the shelter this week.

The note attached to box read: “maybe you can find them a better home.”

The homeless chicks could have been a result from an unwanted Easter present.

“This is why we discourage people from adopting a chick, rabbit, or any animal for that matter as a gift," said spokeswoman Lyndsay Bruno. “Adopting a pet is serious commitment, and not one to take lightly. Thank goodness the volunteer found the chicks right away.”

The chicks are up for adoption. Meet with an adoption counselor to find out what raising a chicken entails. The shelter is located at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. Hours are Monday – Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon- 5 p.m.
