Girl Scout cookies officially arrived in Tucson on Friday. More than 900,000 boxes of cookies will be sold in southern Arizona this season. Of which, 20,000 boxes are sent to deployed military men and women oversees the Girl Scouts Troop to Troop program.

“Buying Girl Scout Cookies is about more than just handing over money for a box,” said Debbie Rich, chief executive officer, Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona. “Yes, you get a box of delicious cookies, but more importantly, a girl learns skills that last a lifetime.  With the sale of each box of cookies, a girl learns about money management, business ethics, people skills, goal setting and decision making.”

Saturday, JGirl Scouts throughout the area began neighborhood door-to-door sales. Cookie sales continue through Sunday, March 2.
